A support coordinator is there to ensure your supports are effective, tailored and in your best interest - so you never have to navigate the NDIS alone. They can also help you work towards specific NDIS goals, such as increasing community participation or improving daily living skills, using their knowledge and experience to match you with the most suitable services.
Every NDIS plan is unique, and your Support Coordination will reflect your individual goals and needs. There are three levels of support coordination within the NDIS:
Helps you build connections with community, mainstream and funded supports so you can make the most of your NDIS plan and pursue your personal goals.
Focuses on developing the skills you need to understand, implement and manage your NDIS plan day-to-day. This includes learning how your supports fit into different areas of your life.
Designed for participants with more complex needs. A Specialist Support Coordinator helps you manage higher-level challenges and coordinate supports within complex environments, ensuring your plan remains effective and sustainable.
Support Coordination is funded when it is considered “reasonable and necessary” for helping you achieve the goals in your NDIS plan. It typically appears under the Capacity Building – Support Coordination budget.
